Citywide Parent Council Notes, September 2020

The following notes were taken by our JQES Citywide Parent Council (Alternate) Rep, Christie Gibson.

Dear JQES Family Community,

The last CPC Meeting was focused on questions around the attendance policy for this year.  Many questions can be answered in the materials below, and there is also contact information for district staff you can be in touch with if you have questions or comments about district attendance policy for the year.

The CPC is also starting new workgroups including on Recruitment/Diversity and Inclusion, Health and Wellness, and BuildBPS.  If you would like to be part of a parent workgroup on one of those issues, please join us whether or not you have been to any CPC meetings before or are the elected rep.  Our next meeting is Tuesday, October 27, 6-8pm on zoom.

Another announcement is that the Superintendent has been directing a district effort to compile all of the BPS policies into one handbook that will be 1) easily accessible to parents, teachers, and staff, 2) reviewed for equity purposes, 3) reviewed periodically for appropriate updates.  The Superintendent suggested that a draft of the compiled copy of current policies should be ready for equity review in about six months.
